Witchcraft uses the "Match 3" mechanics: a randomly generated set of tiles of different types is placed on the battlefield. You need to swap two adjacent tiles in such a way that after your move there's a row or a column of 3 or more tiles of the same type. If you perform a successful match, all matched tiles disappear and tiles from above take their place.
The match-3 mechanics are used in monsters, Arena, and in healing in battles. Titan battles, Champion Battles and coven battles feature the autobattle mechanics. These mechanics allow the player to choose the type of attack and allows servants to deal damage. Learn more about it here.
Every time you perform a match some action takes place: a monster or an opponent takes damage, a spell charges or a chest is collected.
How to Attack
In order to attack your opponent (monster, another player, another coven, etc.) you should move tiles to create a row or a column of 3 or more tiles:
You can move tiles by clicking on a tile you want to move and dragging it in the desired direction. Matched tiles will disappear and you'll perform an attack. Moving tiles consumes 1 energy point per move.
Efficiency of your attack depends on your equipment, stats, used boosts, spells, and modifiers. Damage is calculated using a simple damage calculation formula.
Treasure chests may appear on the tile field. In order to get a treasure chest you must take it to the bottom of the tile field by matching tiles below it. A treasure chest contains a random reward - gold, potions or an item of a collection. There can be a maximum of 3 treasure chests on the tile field at the same time (if you have the Loot Master skill).
