Gladiators are artificial fighters created by the game. They act very similar to real players: they use different types of attacks, spells and boosts. They are selected for you based on your level.
Every gladiator has it's own attack, defense and set of tricks they use in battle. Even high level players may have a hard time defeating a gladiator.
When you enter the Arena you see a list of gladiators. You can fight any of them by clicking “Attack”. You can attack the same gladiator every 2 hours.
Gladiators respond to your challenge immediately, so you will know the outcome of the battle right away.
For every victory against a gladiator you get gold and experience depending on the gladiator's level.
If you lose a battle, you get a reward but it's a fraction of what you could get if you'd won. If you are a member of a coven, you also get coven dice (more for a victory) in addition to gold and experience.
For every 5 victories in the gladiator fights during the day you get the Gladiator Chest which contains pieces of the unique Gladiator collection.
