If you brew a potion from its direct components, its mixing time will be minimum (as in the Recipe Book). If you don't have the direct components for the potion, you can brew it from its intermediate components or basic ingredients. In that case the game will increase the mixing time by the same amount of time you would've spent creating the required components.
